Jim's Products |
Jim, AKA Sweetums, is Joan's
husband and the inspiration for our business. He
learned how to can from his Granny who canned just
about everything. She passed on her love of cooking
to Jim as well as her canning ability. With Joan's
prodding and help over the years, friends would look
forward to what came out of the Mangrum kitchen.
Whether it was some of Joan's baking or Jim's
creative canning, friends looked forward to their
holiday and birthday gifts from the kitchen. Hence
the "J & J ( Jim & Joan) Fruit Spread" and the "Sweetums
(Jim) Jellies" came into existence. We felt it was
time to let Jim have his own line of goods. These
are items that Jim has thought up on his own and
created the recipes. There are other products that
are available in limited quantities such as Peach
Butter, Garden Chunky Salsa and Barbecue Sauce.

Crock Sauerkraut - This is first cured in a crock
for weeks and then canned to preserve.
Chow Chow - This is a southern relish. A mixture of
cabbage, green tomatoes, peppers and other veggies
canned in a sauer/sweet liquid similar to bread and
butter pickles.
Apple Butter - Made from North Carolina apples with
added spices and cooked down perfect consistency.
Some friends liken it to an apple pie without the
crust. |
